Splinter Workshop

Brendan Cody

I started along this path with an art school background followed by a design course then a degree at UTS in Furniture design. This led me to my time of study at Sturt School for Wood before settling here at Splinter workshop 4 years ago.

I have always drawn as a pastime and all of my work starts with an old-fashioned pencil and paper.  I find with sketching you can follow the evolution of an idea and backtrack if need be to find where you went too far or where you got it just right.

I am not a purist when it comes to furniture, I use whatever suits the application and for me the idea always takes precedence over the choice of materials.  I love the work of early designers such as Eileen Gray and Carlo Mollino.
